ABOUT YOUR HOSTS

Tim Strong comes from a bluegrass family.  His Dad, George, instilled the love of bluegrass in Tim from a young age and encouraged him throughout the years. Tim's first gig was with his brother, Gary, at the age of 13.  Since that time, he has been a bluegrass staple in the Cincinnati area. Currently, Tim is operating his recording studio, TCB Sound in Taylor Mill, Kentucky and is looking forward to the opportunities to provide quality recording.  Most recently, he has played guitar and sang harmony in The Missy Werner Band.  Tim has performed with such national acts as Chris Jones & The Night Drivers, Don Rigsby & Midnight Call, Peter Rowan, and others.

Rita Small became involved in bluegrass in 2005 and continues to grow in her knowledge of the music.  In addition to programming the radio show, she keeps the website and social media pages up to date.  Rita has published CD reviews for Prescription Bluegrass for such artists as Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Peter Rowan, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Kim Robins, Mipso, Unspoken Tradition, Brooke Foster, Don Rigsby and others.  She really enjoys searching out new artists and sharing their music with other bluegrass fans.

ABOUT THE RADIO SHOW

Bluegrass In the Valley first aired in the fall of 2005 on WAIF 88.3fm in Cincinnati, Ohio where the show broadcast until March 2015. Since that time the show has evolved and, during the weekly show, began to focus more on informing listeners of the latest bluegrass news, giving listeners a mixture from traditional bluegrass to the most current songs available, and looking for ways to promote bluegrass music when and wherever possible.  Tim and Rita moved to WOBO in Batavia, Ohio in January 2014.
In September 2016 Bluegrass In The Valley left terrestrial broadcasting world and moved to the internet station The Bluegrass Jamboree. They are looking forward to what the future has to offer.
The show has had the privilege of interviewing such artists as David Peterson, Hammertown, Dave Adkins, Marty Raybon, Special Consensus, Bobby Mackey, Frank Solivan, Tommy Webb, Retro & Smiling (Buddy Griffith and Ashley Messenger), Blue Moon Rising, Ralph II, Missy Werner, Brandon Godman, Russell Moore of IIIrd Tyme Out, Dwight McCall, Tim Hensley, The Chapmans, Nothin' Fancy, Ma Crow & The Lady Slippers, Jerry Salley, Darrell Webb, The Bluegrass Mafia, Edgar Loudermilk, Jeff White, Turning Ground, Blue Mafia, Gena Britt of Sister Sadie, Wyatt Rice, Donna Ulisse, East Fork Junction, Glen Harrell, Kati Penn-Williams, Kristin Scott-Benson, Tim Graves, Jeff Brown and many others.
